National Development Agency (Bappenas) revises Public Private Partnership (P3) Book

The revised P3 Book has been issued, and reduces projects available this year from 22 to 15. Projects included are ones which the Government believes have high realization potential.

Government challenges Supreme Court's verdict on water privatization

The Ministry of Finance has filed a case review of the Supreme Court verdict upon a citizen suit decided on March 22 with the Central Jakarta District Court. The Supreme Court verdict ordered the end to water privatization in Jakarta because the government failed to provide access to water to the citizens of Jakarta. Notable grounds for the case review were arguments against using the citizen suit as a method to issue new regulatory policy.



Task force to monitor employment of foreign workers

The Government has launched a task force to supervise foreign workers in the country and to be on the lookout for potential breaches by workers and employers. The task force was formed under Ministry of Manpower Regulation 73/2018.



JakEVO, evolution in obtaining permits

In a bid to improve the ease of doing business in Jakarta, the Jakarta Administration has launched the JakEVO app to enable entrepreneurs to obtain their Trade Business License (SIUP) and Company Registration (TDP) in less than an hour (usually takes up to 14 days to obtain). SIUP and TDP documents, once approved, will be sent via email. The app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

Indonesia lifting all import duties for Palestinian products

In a show of economic support for Palestine, Indonesia lifted import duty on Palestinian products (dates and virgin olive oil) effective 11 April 2018 pursuant to Presidential Regulation 34/2018. A free trade agreement between Indonesia and Palestine is scheduled to be completed this year.


Indonesia and Denmark to cooperate in clean energy

Indonesia and Denmark are taking steps to establish a bilateral cooperation on clean energy.
